Force Ubuntu Trash to Empty
Uncategorized June 10th, 2009 by Shai Perednik
Sometimes the Ubuntu trash can be very stubborn and files are left there that won’t delete.
There are two options both involving terminal. replace USERNAME with your username.
Option 1:
sudo rm -rf /home/USERNAME/.local/Trash/files/*
Option 2:
gksudo dbus-launch nautilus
navigate to: /home/USERNAME/.local/Trash/files/
Delete what you want.
Option 1 works 99% of the time, but sometimes there will be those files that even sudo can’t remove.
